Some people say that computers in school can greatly benefit both teachers and pupils. However, others claim that they will only distract pupils from work. So, whose point of view is the right one?
On the one hand, computers give teachers a wonderful opportunity to display colourfulpictures, movies, recordings and other useful materials. Thus, it will be easier for pupils to absorb new things they are told. Then, they will be able to search for necessary information in the Internet, and in such a way will take them less time than doing it in a library. What’s more, those pupils who are disabled, sick or absent due to some other reasons, can be „virtually present“ at the lessons, using their computers at home to watch them on - line.
On the other hand, most pupils are used to treat computers as toys and it will be difficult for them to understand that in class they are to work such appliances. Then, some children get addicted to their gadgets and using computers in class would only aggravate it. Furthermore,computers can be harmful to health: cause poor eyesight and uneven posture, expose people to radiation.
In conclusion, I’d say, that computers as well as all other things in the world have their advantages and disadvantages. Computerised education is a popular phenomenon nowadays, and we cannot prevent it. However, we must not forget that it must be reasonable – otherwise it will do more harm than good.
